Hey All,

My exhaust finally gave up the ghost (cracked intermediary pipe on pass. side). Ive wanted flowmasters (50 series 3 chamber delta flows) forever, but didnt want to do a whole cat. back as I was staying 2 1/4 and my tail pipes are fine (read here I'm cheap).

The thing is, the flows are 23 inches overall length, and the stock ones are 18 inches. I need to lose 5 inches somewhere.

Anyone done this before and can provide some insight? Oh, I'll be doing this tonight after work.

Thanks,

Kieran

Never again. I tried to save a few bucks but what a PITA. I should have put up the few extra bucks and just got a cat back system. The measuring, cutting, adjusting, etc. is a big waste of time. The problem is the 50 series flowmasters are 5 inches longer than stock. Also, I dont have a lift or a pit, and I can't for the life of me get the damn tail pipes out from over the axle to cut them down a few inches. I will have to buy a sawsall and try and cut them from under the vehicle (supported by jackstands).

Rant over.

Yes, I would have told you that.
If the mufflers are rusted, you can rest assure the rest is shot or ready to go.
Just pony up for a new catback. I had a dynomax 2 1/4" on, and it lasted as long as the SS stock stuff. 7 years.
I have the Flowmaster 2 1/2" catback on ( see my sig), and even though the pipes aren't polish, it looks fine. the 2 1/2" flowed so much better. Check out summit racing for a good price and shipping.
