Flowmaster's tailpipe extensions- Horrible fit??

I've got the car running finally, but having the mufflers dump right in from of the axle is LOUD. Too loud! I have the Flowmaster "over the axle" extensions but they are a horrible fit. Can anyone else confirm how your's fit? I don't want to spend another $200 to have some made.

Anyone have pics as to which way the bend should lean and how they line up with the GT valance on the '68's.

mine went in without too much trouble, but i do hate how those hangers work. mine haven't hung right since about a month after we put it in. not sure if any of the other manufacturers do them differently...

Would a junk yard help? in case some junked car had decent pipes that were not rusted. Why not see if any shops sell them.

I've run them tru my TCP rear coilover system with a little tweaking, so I found them pretty good. FordMuscle.com has an article where they are featured too.

I've had the 2.5" versions on my 66 for about 5 years. Other than a little trimming each end they fit, and have stayed put since.
