Hey guys, I want exhaust and I didnt have enough money for bassanis which I planed on getting. Instead I plan on getting magna flows since they are cheaper and are still a good system. What do you guys like better normal magnaflows or magnapacks? I have listened to both but want so input from they group. I want the to howl at wot and while cruising but be just a bit louder than the stock exhaust at idle. Which is suited for me?

magnaflows are more like stock sound to me, that chambered muffler sound.
magnapacks, which i had on mine for about 3 months, are more of a glass-pack sound to me. kind of gurgley.

magnapacks are also much smaller. kinda look like those race bullets to me. i liked em, but didn't sound right with my prochamber. either way, they are both nice setups.

as always, these are just my 2 pennies.

Get the Packs!! The best part about them is the look you get from people when you hit the fun pedal. They are quiet at idle, but really scream when you hit WOT!! The Flows are just too quiet, IMO. I am sure the Pack's crew will chime in here to give you more reassurance!

sounds like your describing the "packs" to me. while cruising the packs can be quiet if rpms are below 1800. between 2k and 3k cruising the packs invite a race.

I got the packs and I am glad I did. They are pretty loud. I have to try to be quiet when I leave my house in the mornings. Like was said before, they are quiet at idle, but when you hit the pedal, they scream. They do a little "pop pop poping" when you let of the gas, I could do without that, but other than that I like em. There is a website out there with sound clips of various exhaust setups... I think it is mustangexhaust.com, but I'm not sure. I have an H pipe, and from what I have heard, the packs sound better with an X. Might be good to see what others with an X have to say.

heard pack and flow in person. Both were on dyno. They sounded exactly the same IMO but pack is noticably louder for sure

I'm with this guy get the original 40 series Flowmaster's
if you don't mined the drone but,if you don't want drone get the new
40 series Flowmaster's! I have the original Flowmaster 40 series American
thunder catback and couldn't be more happyer with the sound and performance. This is your car you have to live with it and drive it so,get what you want not what everyone else wants! In your case I would go to
www.mustangexhaust.com and see what exhaust appeals to you.

I've got Dynomax Bullets, which are (I'm pretty sure) similar to the packs in that they're straight through rather then chambered. Going straight through improves flow and might net you 2 or 3 horsepower IMO, because chambered mufflers really do impede airflow.

The other cool thing about my bullets is that they sound unique, and when I put it in neutral and rev it up high (like 4 grand) it backfires slightly and pops, which I think sounds mean as hell.

You try to be quiet, and I try to wake up my neighbor in the mornings. He says it's like having a nascar alarm clock. I love my packs, and I have the x-pipe.They are pretty docile at low rpms, but when you start into the throttle, everyone knows you are coming.

I should just put this description in my sig. so these threads stop coming up. Anyway, here it goes...

I have the Maggy Catted X and Magnapacks on my Stang, at idle and low to mid range there's a nice hollow rumble (almost like flowmaster 40s but not as loud n a bit higher pitched)then when you go WOT (where Flowmasters tend to loose their distinctiveness) the flood gates open and all hell breaks loose. Sounds like a Nascar, mothers grab their babies, heads snap and people jump just to see what the hell went by.

That being said, I still like the "traditional" flowmaster sound and I think I might put them on my next Stang but currently I just wanted something different for my ride.

only problem with an off road pipe and straight thru muffler is that you have no backpressure at all. If you have a supercharged setup pushing big power that is one thing, but on a stock car is going to hurt performance to an extent where as having some backpressure, ie. high flow cats and a straight thru mufflers or off road pipe and chambered muffs give you the backpressure you need. Just an opinion but many have proven that backpressure and lack there of will affect performance.

I have the magnaflows, and they sound pretty loud and deep. It'll sound louder after I get my O/R midpipe
