with all the cooling problems people having on the boards lately i decided to pick one up. its suppose to b a direct bolt in. anyone have any tips or tricks to get this thing in easier? also need a cap. can i pick one up at autozone (havent checked, will the stock one work?)

Yeah you can use the stock everything, it just slips in, I had one on my 94 5.0

It's a tight fit around the a/c lines. other than that it fights just fine. I run a stock cap with a 18lb rating insted of a 16lb.

well when i got mine the draincock was seized and i had to cut off the bung and weld a new one in. so my only advise is that you make sure you can loosen the draincock befor you put it in. other than that it went in fine. a little tight but it fit right in place of the old one.

Make sure you put some sealer on the threaded part of the petcock the contacs the aluminum radiator. I didnt and it leaked like mad.

I had no problems, fit perfect, the onlt thing I did before putting it in was run clean distilled water through it before I put it in; just to get any dust or debris out before I installed it. This step is not needed though, but you really need to run distilled water in it, or the premixed antifreeze cause its made with distilled water.

ok guys i pulled it out the box to look it over b4 i put it on. now i think i ran into a problem. the drain peice, is it suppose to come off or just loosen. i thought u unscrew it to let the coolant out. anyways the silver piece that would allow me to do either just spins around. so i cant unscrew it. wth to do?? i attached a pic.

That's the drain petcock. It doesn't come out, just spins after it's loose. Turn it right to tighten it. I tighten it pretty tight by hand, and that holds just fine.

think if i put some jb weld between the silver peice and the copper screw itll hold em together for me to screw it shut?

so i'm not the only one that got one with a seized drain ****.

find a shop that sells an aluminum bung.( i think it was 1/4 national pipe thread) I MIGHT BE WRONG THOUGH. and then take the radiator to a shop that can weld aluminum. (any chassis shop should be able to) get the bung welded on and then go buy a new draincock.
