i was looking at buying a new 302 shortblock as opposed to going through the rebuild process on my 289. but i would like to use my old 289 heads, intake, carb, accessories for budget purposes. the block is ford part number M-6009-B50 (they say it gets 9.0:1 comp ratio with 65cc heads). i figured i would have about a 10:1 compression ratio with the 289 heads.
basically i need to know what compression is too high, if this block would work with my 289 heads(will my valves clear the pistons?), will it work with my 3spd manual transmission (6 bolt bell housing) and what might i have to change on the block to make it work.
