Hello,

I had a 351M with a big bellhousing FMX
Swapped the thing for a 302 so now i know i need a small bellhousing but jot sure in what flexplate and also which starter. I have both starters. The one from a t5-302 and the one from the 351m-fmx. Also the block is 71 so not sure if need imbalance etc. If you guys could guide me that would be great. Its all i need to finish my project before i deploy.

you need the flexplate with the same balance factor as your 302. as for the starter you need the one from the automatic, assuming you are swapping to the automatic. if you are swapping to the T5, then you need the T5 starter.

What year is the 302 ? The older ones used a 28oz imbalance. They changed in the 80s (I think 82 or 83) to a 50oz imbalance. The starters are the same, the only difference between the starters is the tooth pattern on their gear. If you have a 164 tooth flywheel/flex plate then you need the starter with the gear for that tooth count.
