I have a 71' 351C 4V in my 73' Grande Mustang. I've found a 1993 T-5 5-Speed that I want to swap in. Just need a couple things on what to get. What Flywheel and balance should I get for my set up? Will I have to make any changes to the transmission hump in the floor pan or change my transmission mount? Anything and everything will help out ALOT.

P.S. I know you were thinking T-5 for a 351C 4V ?!?!! It is a built transmission with billet input and output shafts along with hardned gears. Meant for high horsepower and a decent amount of torque.

Thanks for any input!! :SNSign:

Even built T5 isn't much stronger than stock. But so long as you avoid powershifting and slicks, you should be fine.

How do you plan to bolt the T5 up to the 351C? Are you using some sort of an adapter plate or bellhousing?

Swapping from an FMX is the same as swapping from any auto. You will need a new crossmember, or modifying the FMX crossmember is easy. You shouldnt need to cut any sheetmetal.

The Cleveland uses the same bell as the 5.0. You will need a better clutch along the lines of a Centerforce Dual friction set for a Cleveland. You'll need a 5.0 28 oz/in 157 tooth flywheel to go with a T-5 bell. Then you'll need to decide how to actuate the clutch. Hydraulic, Cable, or O.E. mechanical linkage?
