I ordered a chin spoiler, grille delete, and tri ax from steeda, and they all came in one box, and the chin spoiler was folded over twice its got some bent spots that look like they prolly will come out, but i dunno.

anyone else had this experience?

also: this is kindof random, but a buddy of mine told me to get my chin spoiler painted (my car is black) he said he got his painted on his black gt, clearcoat and all, he said it looked sick, and I trust his opinion most the time. . . what do you think?

I hear painting those things is a PITA (pain in the ass), because debris always scratches it, and just requires more REpainting. But its up to you. I think it looks hot just flat black how it comes, but i guess painting it could look good, but for the risk of scuffing the painted chin spoiler, i dont think its worth it personally

chin spoiler

I see companies like Steeda and others that sell these Mach 1 chin spoilers. Now...I work at a Ford dealership and I have recently purchased a 2001 GT and went down to the parts dept. and bought the chin spoiler for $55, my cost of coarse. It was in a big honkin' box, to ensure NO folds etc...

How good are the aftermarket ones? The Ford one came with the hardware and all. Im also thinking about doing the grille delete that is on the Mach 1. I will probably stick with a Ford part. I wouldn't be able to deal with a folded spoiler, no ,matter what the price.

I just got mone off an ebay auction with the buy it now option, came unfolded in an oversized box and was promptly shipped. I didnt feel like waiting through a whole auction and I dont think I paid more than a couple dollars more than the one at Mustang Tuning that I was gonna order. Came with no instructions but all the christmas tree pins to mount.

I just called Ford and found out. The Mach 1 Chin spoiler costs $80 from my Ford Dealership. And its $50 + shiping (sometimes free shipping) from STEEDA or MustangTuning...so bent or not, the Ford Dealership is banging ya for $30.

The part number is 3R3Z 17626-AAA and is available from Ford.
My local dealership ordered it for me and I picked it up there, no shipping costs, and it comes in a large box unfolded.

Got mine from Randy Stinchcomb / Liberty Ford / www.modulardepot.com "Ford Parts" forum. $55, flat box (not bent) and shipping was dirt cheap...like $7 for this and another box (via UPS) with a headlight, grill delete kit, etc. Don't let these other people rip you off with inflated shipping charges!

Well this is kind of surprising. Mine was 107$CAN at ford, got the regular discount to take the price down to 92$CAN, no shipping, no folding. I guess if you get the chin were you bought the car you ll get the discount from 80$US to probably 70$???
I also dont think you ll get free shipping for a chin spoiler unfolded in a large box. How much is shipping for this part in the US? 10$????beeing very conservative
Do the math, 50$ plus 10$= 60$ wich is 10$ less than the ford dealer.

If you are paying full price for parts at your local ford dealer, you are getting robbed

so I let it sit out for a couple days, I havent been able to put it on yet, cause I have been extra lazy, and its been raining. . .

so the spoiler has straitened out, but the horizontal section of the lip (horizontal, as if it were attached to the bumper, not the front lip, the attachment peice) has two very large lumps in it. . . so I may take a hairdrier to it later.

Why the spoiler? Does it help the cars aero in anyway or serve any purpose, or it it just for looks? How about the mach 1 grill delete, how much weight does it remove?..As you can tell I am pretty much all about performance LOL. Thanks

about the spoiler, I really couldnt tell you about the aero . . . It obviously produces drag at higher speeds, but I dont think it really makes any downforce, seeing as how the only functional wings ford has ever made are on the cobra r's. pretty much its all looks IMO.

grille delete doesnt really save weight at all, you take out one big peice of plastic, and replace it with two lighter ones, so if youre into saving weight, IMO the difference is negligible. the grille delete makes the front end look bulkier, and gives it some attitude. I highly recomend it, I didnt care for that stock grille at all!

It's just looks really.

Since your car is silver like mine, i'll just show you what it would look like.

Mustang 5L5, how do you manage to get your fog to work without the headlights. I think that if i do the mod describe in mustangworld, it still wont work cause up here in Canada, headlights are on as soon as you start the car?????

ALL US-spec 99+ Mustangs can do it.

You guys have Daylight Running Lights up in Canada which means headlights on when the car starts. We don't have that here.

I would guess you would need to disable the DRL module. I know on 90-93 Mustangs there is a module you can unplug that will disable the DRL's. I do not know how to do it on the 99+ Mustangs. I'm sure if you ask around about disabling the DRL's on a Mustang on the boards you can get an answer.
