Follow-up pics of the black daytona wheels on my '66

Got 'em on finally. These pictures do them no justice or the car at all for that matter...I just took these few when we were in the process of the engine swap in the car. I used DB's idea from his chop he done for me and took off my fender badging aside from the engine badge and between that, shelby drop, bumper guard removal, and the new wheels/tires my '66 coupe now looks absofriggenlutely wicked. It looks like it belongs on a track somewhere. I am taking the tranny out tomorrow to have a new pump put in along w/ seals/filter kit, etc and when I get it back in I'm gonna wash it up real good and get some good pics. I must say I was suprised at how well they set it off and even my friends who stopped by the shop who think its all about the bling were carrying on about how great they are on the car. Now if I can just get the rollbar/cobra front apron in the next month or so it will complete the look. So I'll give a final pic update when possible.

well if I decide on that I just hafta flip the tires around...they are solid white letter tires.

Whoa now... I'm not taking any responsibility here. You can blame me... j/k I think the wheels look darn nice , and if my mediocre 'chop was of any help, I'm glad. I'll be looking forward to the more "final" pics...

I'm glad this post is going better than my photoshop post of them where people wondered why i would do such a thing to my car. I got them from Summit Racing for $155 shipped to my door. 15x7 front w/ 3.75 bs and 15x8 rear same bs but i could have probably used a little more...I like how it looks in the rear though so no biggie. When I get down to Mooresville I may change the tires at NTI over to the white letter side...just gotta wait and see...mostly b/c that way I wont have to pay doing it myself vs paying someone to remount and balance them.

Wow, thanks abunch guys. Just wait till I get the good pics when the tranny is back in. That's probly the best set of wheels i've saw on a '66 coupe for under 4-500 bucks. And thanks again DB I'll be turning the white letters out in the next few weeks.

The photo chop doesn't do justice to raised white letters, they really stand out when the car's in motion. For a better look, find the old movie "White Lightning" with Burt Reynolds, to see what raised white letters w/black wheels do for a bad-assed look. And how easy a 429SCJ boils the hides even in a big 4 door 71 Ford Custom.

Hah! I love that movie. Great *realistic* engine sounds, they must've had microphones duct-taped under the Ford's big hood. Trivia alert: some of the "action music" from the scene where Burt flees the "home for unwed mothers" recently turned up in the big fight scene in "Kill Bill - Vol. 1". I recognized it immediately.

I recently bought the movie on DVD. Always heard it was a Boss 9 in there. But finally after 30 years, I was able to freeze frame the under the hood shot. and --low and behold, there sat a 429SCJ. I need to go down your way and see if I can buy the White Lightning look alike I saw a year or so ago down the river from Donaldsonville.

You'd have to ask DB if he changed the tire size in the white letter chop..if not 215/65 front and 235/60 rear

Nope, didn't change the tire size at all. In fact, all I did was 'chop in the new wheels over the old, same size and all. I just assumed the previous set was 15" also... was I right? Anyway, for the white letters, again, I just 'chopped the letters from a vintage Firestone Wide Oval onto the original tires.
