I think you have to pull/tug on them from the top. They pop in and out of the holes in the metal pillar similar to the plastic piece on the door's threshold.

I just squeezed and pulled it off, they are little metal spring-y tabs.

I mocked up where I wanted the guage pod, I didnt get the whole piller, and marked the spot for the pod. I then took off the pillar trim. With it off I fit the pod as tight as possible and marked the holes and drilled the holes. At this time I also made a larger hole for wires to pass from the inside of the pod to the inside of the pillar trim and ran the wire down to the dash and behind the dash that way.

Just pull it, there are 2 or 3 snaps.

thanks guys, I got it off. I must say it is so nice having a second vehicle and not have to rush the job. I just spent a good hour trying to figure out where to feed the wire through the fire wall and I think i figured out the best spot. I will post pictures of everything when it is all done but it will probably be a few days. I have to get some parts and I'm in no rush (for Once!).

Are you going to keep the stock pillar in place under the triple? Mech or electric gauges?

A lot of guys use the OEM grommet to get wires through.

yeah the new one from autometer fits over the old one. one gauge will be the mechanical boost/vacume, one will be electrical fuel pressure, and the last one will be the innovative XD-1 to moniter my a/f ratio.

I had one on mine but now I have the cluster bezel. As for the wire routing, there is a little 3/4" grommet between the hinges of the door that I used to route stuff to the engine bay.

I ended up pushing them all through the factory grommet(that big ugly one).
it took some magic with a knife/screw driver/and hanger but i got them all through it. and for anyone that plans to do this, i found the easiest way to route the wires up to the pillar. just pull the weather striping up(near door) and slide the wires into the very spacious crack behind it. maybe i'm just retarded but it took me a half hour to see it(after trying to use a hanger to push them up).

now i have a question............
I was thinking and i think the easiest and cleanest way to splice into the ignition wire(or wire that is hot when car is on)/lighting source would be to splice into the wires running to the clock.
what do you think?

at the bolded part.
I didnt post about removing the weatherstripping because I think you said you had electrical gauges. I put my mech temp gauge capillary tube behind that weatherstripping too. For electrical wire running, I pulled the headlight switch so I could grab wires coming from below the pillar. Then I ran them behind the gauge cluster from up top.

You're better than I am - I never could get wires through the factory grommet (I'm 260# with a 64" chest - I look like I'm being tortured by midgets when I lay under the dash; I dont have the dexterity that some have).

For the pillar pod, grab lighting right at the headlight switch (remove the bezel for the cluster and then two bolts for the headlight switch and it comes out). You can grab an accessory (key-on hot) wire at the fusebox or behind the cluster or ignition column. If you have the headlight switch out, it's real easy to run a wire down to the fusebox.

well they are all wired up and mounted!! still a few wires to run for the wideband but they go to a different spot. I haven't been able to test them yet because i left my running lights on the other night when i was finding hot wires. anyways, here are some pictures of the install.........


its hard to see in the picture just how many wires i fed through there. If any one has an LC-1 wideband they will understand.

here is the HUGE CRACK that i was describing in an earlier post.

this is where i spliced into the hot wire and the wire for the lights.

And my reward for all the work.

And here are some little tid bits from the U.K.
I've also seen a truck with the company name on it(Erection Service). I guess they do scaffolds??
