do you oil(lube) yours up? whats the point?

I dont, from personal experience and hearing it from my mech. I rather not take a chance of that oil getting thru and messing with my sensors.

Obviously you didn't read the instructions that came with the filter. It is a high flow filter (no paper to catch the dirt) it is the oils job to catch all of that since the paper is no longer there. You won't hurt your sensors unless you over oil it. Just follow the directions and you won't have any problems. I've used one ( and oiled it) for 5 years and never once had problems with it.

I don't re-oil mine.
I just ****can the old one when it's time and buy a new one.
Why take chances, plus oiling them is a pain in the ass.

This is why I stopped using K&N and switched back to paper filters.

it didnt come with instructions...bought an open box item

I just re-oiled mine since I bought my car last year at this time.

I cleaned it actually, it was really nasty looking. Now it looks great. Oil when it looks/feels "dry".

yes, i reoil mine once it gets cleaned. The only thing that sucks is it has to dry for along time before you re-oil it. Make sure you have your stock paper one or else you wont be driving for acouple hours.

I've been running K&N filters for longer than many of you have been alive. Never had a problem with the oil fouling sensors as long as proper cleaning and oiling is performed. Though tests have proven that paper filters provide better filtration than performance gauze type filters like the K&N.

Unless your a complete moron, you can't over oil the filter. Just a light spray from the bottle does the job. Never had any problems with the ones I've bought for 3 different vehicles I've had.

I used to use them, but switched back to stock. too much other crap to worry about. last thing I need is an air filter to clean every month.

if you don't use oil on it, your not trapping any dirt. over oiling shouldn't be a problem.

you do need to clean it regularly though or your performance will suffer. that oil catches alot of crap and turns it to mud that doesn't let air through after a while. so you go from flowing better than stock to flowing worse than stock very fast. don't see aan advantage in that

use stock filters

i've had mine for almost 5 years, clean it twice a year and have NEVER had a problem

the oil in the aerosol can is alot easier to use, clean the filter (simple green works well if you run out of k&n cleaner) let it dry and spray it down with a few light coats, how hard could it be?

if you run the k&n with no oil you might as well not run a filter at all, a sure fire way to mess up the maf sensor

I've have one on my car for 4 1/2 years now and I've cleaned it once. I've got the Mac CAI so the filter is in the fender where it gets very little grime. Took a peek at it the other day and it still looks clean. When I did clean it, it was easy, but did take some time. I probably spend an hour trying to be thorough about cleaning it off completely, then let it dry out overnight. Re-oiling it was idiot-proof. Just spray it down lightly and wait a few minutes. Then check for any spots that are still while and spray them down. Recheck, and if it's all red/pink, go ahead and reinstall it, and you're good to go.

I have had a K&N on every mustang and have had one on both LS1's and not had a single issue with the oil messing up a sensor. The instructions on the recharger kit tell you what to do and not to over oil the filter.

As Miller 766 said, by not oiling your K&N, you are not only sucking dust and dirt through the filter and onto the sensors, which is far more harmful than a little bit of oil, but also into the engine, contamenating the oil and causing premature engine wear. You will be OK for awhile if you are not driving in dusty conditions but if you insist on not oiling the filter, then you really should go back to using paper filters.

I clean and oil mine every 10K miles.

I even check the MAF sensor for oil residue on it and it's been clean. I clean it with electronics spray anyway when i do this.

The only sensor it can gunk up is the MAF sensor. Once it goes into the engine it burns up. Unless you spray it down with tons of oil and reinstall it dripping wet, i don't think youshoul dhave a problem.
