For those with O/R Xpipe and Flowmasters come in plz..

Do you have a pulse sound going down the road, almost like a helicopter or do you have a deep,solid tone. Reason being I just installed an o/r Bassani X with my Magnapacks and it doesn't have the tone I am looking for, it has a raspy popping sound to it at certain RPM's.

What I am looking for is a mean solid exhaust tone instead of the glasspackish' one the X gave mine. It wasn't there before the X but I want to keep the Xpipe.

Also do you think I could swap just the Flowmasters mufflers out with my Magnapack catback or would I have to get it welded? Thanks for any help.

EDIT: oops I read that wrong ...thought you said you already had the flowmasters. In that case, yes, I recommend gettin the Flows

I want my Flows back. I blew both of mine after swapping them from different year stangs. When i went to buy some more i let the salesperson talk me into Ultra Flows because they are saying Flowmasters are so restrictive. Now i regret having the Ultra Flows welded in.

The ones I have are welded. You can use your stock tailpipes (if you still have them) and have them welded to them.

well the flow 40 series have a 19" overall and a 13inch body.

now the magnapacks have a 14inch body and 20 overall.

proably work. see what have 1/2 inch less to clamp in on each side will do.

I have the same problem except i havethe slp loudmouth catback. When i installed my o/r h pipe last weekend i got that pulse soundyour talking about at like 1700 rpm when im lightly accelerating. I want some flows but i dont feel like spending the money to get them welded in so im gonna try n find some baffles but i cant seem to find them anywhere

Replace the Magnapacks with the Magnaflows and it will give you exactly what you are looking for-

it will rid you of the popping, and it will not force you to loose the benifits of the X pipe you just added which will happen when you put in a chambered muffler-

A chambered muffler will slow down your exhaust velocity to the point that the X pipe will no longer work efficiently-

I was going to do a search, but I saw this new post. So are you saying with a MAC cat-back it would be better to get an h-pipe or Prochamber instead of an x-pipe? Is it better for both sound and horsepower or just sound.

With a chambered muffler, either an X pipe or H pipe will work fine-

Some X pipes dont work well with some chambered mufflers though sound wise according to some on this site-

its really up to you to decide-

power wise if you have a chambered muffler X or H wont make much of a difference-

power wise if you all ready have an X- you want to get a straight through muffler-

if you have an H, you will also see more gains with a straight through muffler-

power wise with a straight through muffler- you will get more from an X pipe-

sound is all opinion- many are willing to loose hp to get the sound they perfer- as there is only 4-5 hp difference between a chambered and straight through muffler depending on brand

yeah MAC Flowpaths sound TITS with their Prochamber. Deep as hell. The 1 or 2 HP you give up will be worth it. Plus, 1 or 2 hp can be a changed in the weather.
