There is another good ported stock head. His combo works out well don't you think? I was going to go with powerheads but they are a lot more expensive than Thumpers. With powerheads I would have to agree that "might as well go with aluminum aftermarkets" in that case. Still a good head though.

well, I was just shooting out the option to see if it was worth porting the stock heads. I chose a ported stock lower by Tmoss, because I want to run a Kenne Bell, but I wont have the money to buy one for a couple years more then likely, so I was seeing if ported stockers were worth it just to make some more power while I save and wait.

tmoss: if I sent the lower to you to be ported and I have stock heads right now, but plan to upgrade to better heads, say like AFR/Trick Flow, to flow better with the S/C, how much would you have to do to get the exhaust side opened up more, or should I just do it all for the heads I plan on getting later down the road?

I don't port heads, just intakes. If your going with AFR/TW heads later, get a Cobra/Explorer intake now and let me port it when you get the blower.

Oh, I know you dont port heads, I was wondering about the head side of the lower intake, if you port that to match the heads that I am using.

Saying like, I have stock heads now, and want to send it off soon, to be ported by your, since I got a stock lower for free and i am pretty sure I can run the Blowzilla style blower, but minus the flowzilla intake. I wanted to get it done now, but i wont have money for good heads for another year or so and was wondering if you have to do any reshaping of the ports if I upgraded, or is it more just gasket matching.

I hope this makes sense, if not I will try to post it better later.

Would you be using a Cobra style lower or stock lower? KB makes blowers for both - I highly recommend you use a Cobra style over the stock style on a AFR/TW/Eddy head.

Stock heads and such can work Extremely Well when you have a good combo. Here is a car I built back in 1993, (Wheeew that was a long time ago), that had stock ported heads with a GT-40 intake and E-cam combo. While running a stock ported mass air, 65 mm TB, and stock 19 lb. injectors. It had a freshened up 306 with 10 to 1 comp. hyper pistons.

Racer weight was 3530 w/ driver.

Best run 12.46 @ 109.23 all motor.

W/ 125 shot 11.40 @ 119.00

so you think I should just hold off on the stocker and wait until I can get my hands on a Cobra/GT-40 on that you can port so it will match better with those heads?
I just got my hands on a stock lower for free, and noticed i could get at least 330 to the wheels with the KB 1.5 and some good heads. I dont plan on wanting to produce massive HP since it will be a street car, but up to the suggested 450 crank from the 1.5 would be nice.
so before I bag the stock lower idea, you think the cobra will put me closer to my desired HP and be easier to match to those heads? Sorry to be so dumb, but I just dont want to have this lower sitting around for nothing and wanted to be completely convinced.

I believe the 1.5 KB is made for the stock lower. I can do a very nice job of getting the stock lower to breath for that blower, but the intake will have runner sizes larger than the stock E7 head runner opening. If you got a good set of ported E7 or even GT40 style heads to go with the ported stock intake and later put a 1.5 KB on it, I think you would hit your 330HP without a much trouble.

If you choose the KB for the Cobra style lower (they make both), then get a Cobra/Explorer intake and use it as-is for now and port it when you get the KB.
