Ford almost got me! -- took the car in for service

I get the invoice sheet that shows all that has been done.

Clunk, thermostat control, 1/2 shift grind, suspension squeeks, etc.

NPF on all (no problem found). So basically they had my car Monday - Thursday and never called. It was ready on Tuesday. I take the invoice from the "cashier" and go to the service guy. I said I know for a fact there is a TSB. He looks at me and he says, no. I asked him to look it up. Sure enough, there it was. The car may have a gear clash or ... when the temperature is below 40*F. He took my keys and said they'll order the parts. Also saw a TSB on the clunk. Basically it's just re-tightening bolts. Hope they don't mind the tri-ax

what's the TSB on the clunk?? is that different from the problems with the tranny??

Isn't it pathetic when you are more informed than the guys who are supposed to know!!!

I feel for the Stang owner who is trapped with a TSB and have to deal with complete cr*p because the "Service" guy is more concerned with putting the fear of god into the next housewife who comes in with squeaky brakes on a minivan.

The Ford dealer who sold me mine over 4 years ago lost me on the first oil change...took 2 hours as I waited....freakin car jockey had to take the car from the front to the back...then the car waited to go to the hoist...etc..etc.

A shame...Ford builds a sweet factory Hot Rod...but (up here anyway) the dealers don't seem to even try to cater to the enthusiast.

That dealer (correction...any dealer) hasn't seen my ride since.

they are crap. I blew my tranny on my 96 last spring. they said they would charge me no less than 1600 for a USED t-45 and labor. I took it to mustang magic here on LI and he droped a brand new t-3650, kc clutch and triax for 2k. Ford dealers are crap.

I was at the dealer that I bought my car from a week ago today looking into a lease for the winter. While I was there, I went back to the Service Dept. to tell them I was experiencing the issues of the TSB in my transmission. When I asked the Write up guy about it, he kind of looked at me like I had a big fat dubie hanging out of my mouth. I told him to look it up on the computer and he said he was in the middle of something and he'd be right with me.

I waited for a few minutes and then I see him go talk to another guy and he comes back and tells me "Oh yeah, now I know what you're talking about. We've done 1 or 2 of them. You'll have to make an appointment to bring it in and we'll take a look at it and see if WE can find anything wrong ". I decided right then and there that I WON'T be going back for service on mine since they've only done "1 or 2 of them". I'm going to take mine to a dealer that a guy I work with used to work at and he still knows the guys there.

The thing about dealers is, they are independently owned and operated. Yes the Mechanics are Ford certified, but that doesn't me that the write up guy you talk to is the slightest bit mechanically inclined or knows Jack SCHIT about cars.

I don't know the number but it shows up on the OASIS reports for TSB's. It's a totally different problem than the transmission and it pretty much said that it was the car's throttle being opened up and gear lash clanking. No parts needed, just tighten a few bolts and that's it.


They also told me that my clanking in the rear end on tight slow turns (parking space turns) is normal gear rollover. Whatever that means.

They also said my thermostat control was normal because he checked it on 3 other mustangs. They had it listed as being "too tight". That wasn't even the problem. I even typed up a list of problems to give to them so it would be EXACTLY worded the way I want it to be. Still didn't even look at it.

I brought in a copy of the TSB when I had my tranny done. They knew about it too. It really doesnt matter since it seems like its getting worse again!

I lost faith in my dealer when the service manager told me that "any aftermarket parts installed on the car by me and he would have the cars warranty voided completely"

After I told him what I thought of that, the service department, and his questionable parentage... I left and never came back. I got a call the next day from the general manager and he appologized for the service manager's behavior... Begging me to come in for service work on my Mustang.

But by then, it was too late.... And I've never been back... Too bad, I bought 2 Mustangs in one year there.

Its true thought right. If there is a ssm or tsb for some kind of noise concern or ac problem anytime you are driving your car you would be looking for it. Who here would not say they experienced it just so they could get a potential problem fixed? If ford let owners find out about all the potential faults they have with vehicles their warranty numbers would shoot way up.
