my 89 5.0 mustang recently went a little bananas, the shift points changed and it doesn't down shift when you floor it, it just gradually picks up speed, 1-2 shifts at 70-80 km/h then 2-3 shift around 100 and then to get overdrive, it has to hit 140 km/h... it kick out of overdrive at about 110 km/h

anyone have any ideas?

thanks
Dave

Might want to check your tv cable, since it deals with pressure points to shift it. Hope this helps

It sounds like the throttle valve cable is disconnected or broken. Check where it attaches to the linkage on the throttle body. There's a little nylon bushing that holds it on the linkage. It's very common for it to crumble away after a decade or two of use.

I'd almost bet on it that this is what it is.

Look for a cable dangling under the throttle body.
