I'm interested in picking up a Snap-On tool for the cars I have here at the house because it would work on the Mustangs and my mom's car as long as I got the right keys/cartridges. I am wondering what the capabilities are of the Snap-On unit vs the NGS. The WDS setup looks like a computer with some special software and a piece of proprietary hardware to hook up to the car's computer system. I wouldn't buy a WDS, but I would consider the NGS tool. What I'm wondering is basically, what does each tool offer over the others ?
I know the NGS tool runs off of cartridges and I'm wondering if it is any different then the Snap-On tool in terms of functionality.
Also, since the WDS appears to be a computer using specialized software, has anyone seen any sort of home brew setup for this or maybe a diagnostic program for a computer that hooks up to the OBDII port ?
