Ford/Dealership troubles

I might need a relatively quick answer on this one ...

My mother ordered her 05 GT Convertible as soon as Ford was letting people do so. It was supposed to arrive on July 27th, and did not. The dealership told her another few weeks. It didn't arrive. After a bit of back and forth, she took her business to another dealership who advised that she switch her order to an 06, which would have a higher value due to the time it would take to get an 05.

For the last few weeks, she has been back and forth with the second dealership. Every week, they say it'll be another week. I have not a single clue what in god's name could be taking so long for this car to arrive, but it is driving her mad, as well as me. The dealership says it'll be here by the beginning of November, which is about a full year from when she ordered her original 05 GT Convertible.

My question to you fellas is this ... what can we do in order to get the dealership moving on this deal. I know they have no hand in how quickly the car is made, but I have a feeling that they just aren't doing everything in their power at the moment. What can my mother (or I) possibly do in this situation? Thanks in advance.

Step one. Get the VOC (vehicle order confirmation) and the DORA (dealer order receipt acknowledgement). If they won't give you these two items, then run the other way.

It is possible that the dealer received the vert a long time ago and sold it to somebody else for a high markup.

What polkthug said.

Also, ask if they're a contact or select dealer. If they're select, good luck, you could be waiting a very very long time. If they're contact, find out what their allocation is for the month of October and if anyone else is waiting for GTs. Also, do you have 18" wheels on it? Also ask if they're "Out of Trust." If for some reason they are, you will have to go to another dealer, OOT dealers don't have anything built for them until they pay Ford Motor Company.

What's the differnence between "contact" or "select" dealers? I have two dealers, one in a large city who claims to have a high allocation, and another in a small town that I'm dealt with in the past an always been happy with. I can get the same price from both but would rather order from the dealer I've ordered from before. Is that not a smart move? I'm not concerned about getting the car here right away since I'll be waiting for 64w's anyway.

Bottom line is dealer allocation. If the dealer is allotted 5 GT Convert's for the year and your the sixth in line, your not going to get it unless they buy it from another dealer. Get a VOC or a DORA like PolkThug said. Either one of these will have the priority. This is a internal code that dealers place on the order. The best priority you could have is a 10, anything higher will mean waiting behind others. These are the factors to consider for ordering:

1) Dealer allocation
2) Priority Code
3) Date ordered

If the dealer has a godd allocation, then priority code is going to take presidence over order date.

I would get with your dealer ASAP and find out this information.

Contact dealers are big time dealerships. Mainly found in populous/city areas. They get monthly allocation, depending on the size, they may see two GTs a month. Select stores are small, found in rural areas, they may see two Mustangs the whole year, and both probably are V6s.
