I have dual electric fans from a ford focus laying around. Do you guys think they would cool my 351? Keep in mind that with a 3 row rad. and a flex fan it runs about 160 on the road and 180 in traffic. I was thinking of having the fans come on at different temps. I just don't know if they'll move enough air.

My fans are just like these.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RADI...014QQitemZ330114460808QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I have a 3g alternator too, that I can put on to support the fans.

i dont think that those fans will pull enough air to properly cool your 351. i recommend using a fan from a taurus, V8 mustang, or mark Vlll instead.

If you aren't having any cooling issues I wouldn't bother with it unless you are looking for a project. I am not familiar with the focus fan but judging that it is only a 2 liter engine and meant to cool that much I wouldn't have high hopes in having 2 cool your motor. Especially since the modern engines have a much more efficient cooling system too. I would stick with the proven fans such as the mark 8, Taurus, dual spal... and I went a little different the viper fan. I would shoot for a fan in the 3500-4000 cfm area. Another thing to look for is a DC controler. They dynamicaly ramp up the fan speed to compensate for the heat. It really stablizes your motor's temp and doesn't shock your electrical system. I was able to run my viper fan with the dc controler on my stock 5.0 85amp alternator without killing my car at a stop.

Have you seen any affordable DC controlers ? The cheapest one I've seen that actually has a gradient speed instead of simply having a high/lo/off setting was well over 100 dollars. I don't think this item should really be all THAT expensive especially since its nothing more then a few relays and several resistors.
