Does the Ford hot rod cam require a tune right away? I will get a tune in the future but wanted to know if I can drive it without one.

I recently got a dynojet custom tune at a local speed shop that does a great job but I'm looking to save some money and have an old high school friend who has been a Ford tech at the dealership for the last 15-20 years. I want to see if he can do it for me (maybe on the side) but he is 60 miles from my house and the speed shop is 50 miles from there.

Should I get an intake to go with the cams? If so, what would you recommend? Would I require an immedient tune with just the cam or the combo?

Current performance mods.
-kooks LT headers and high flow cats
-Flowmaster axel backs
-Roush CAI with ram air hood
-SCT custom dyno tune

Any help? I'm sorry if this was asked before. I searched and saw nothing specific.

2 simple questions:

In your professional or unprofessional opinion can I do this in the garage and drive it normal highway speeds to the shop for a dyno tune about 50 miles away with some stop and go traffic. Interstate at 70MPH is an option as well. Thoughts.

Will I need a tune at all?
