What do you get when you cross a classic Ford Mustang with a modern day Ford GT40? As you have likely surmised from the title, the answer is a Mustang Mach 40…the project’s title from Eckert’s Rod & Custom, in Oregon. Their latest bit was aimed at taking a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang and slice ‘n dice it to have a mid-engine featured pony car, sourcing the power plant from a 2006 Ford GT. Sounds plenty silly at first, but then you quickly eat your crow after seeing just how awesome the car really is.
After all, what’s not to like about a classic Mach 1 Mustang blended with a 5.4-liter supercharged V8, with “dialable” horsepower from 600 to 850–that’s crazy talk, right? Maybe…maybe not.
