Hey guys,

I need new brakes all around on my 87 LX and I am going to purchase the Ford racing 5-lug conversion kit. I was wondering what benefits are there besides cosmetic? How much better is my braking going to be and is it worth the $3000??? Thanks!

My opinion....

It is a great kit, comes with everything you need. You will notice MUCH better braking over stock.

However, I think it is a VERY expensive kit.

All told, you should be able to get the same kit from a combination of the local parts stores, eBay, and the boneyard for well under $1000.

I realize that, but I would need a lot of parts and want to have all of them new. I want to do it right the first time and not go back to fix problems.

seems one of the reasons for going to 5 lug is a bigger selection of wheels also.

Was it worth it??? Do you feel a stronger brake pedal and a shorter stopping distance that made the swap worth it?

does the FRPP five lug have wheel offset and backspacing restrictions like the other JY five lug/rear disc conversions?

how does it affect track width?

are there any other suspension(ball joint, bump steer, problems w/alignment), wheel, or clearence related issues to know of?

do these issues become more apparent when lowered?
