Ford Racing "B" springs

After going back & forth on several different lowering springs, I decided to go with Ford's "B" spring. My question is regarding the actaul drop to be expected. Based on numerous photos of other mustangs, it seems that the "C" spring tends to drop the front a little more than the "B" spring does. It's also common knowledge that "C" spring owner's prefer to cut 1 coil from the rear springs to even out the drop. I'm hoping to install the springs (along with other components) 1 time only. I'm hoping that I don't have to tear back into it to make adjustments. I guess the bottom line is do you guys think I should cut the dead coil from the rear springs ? Or maybe even a 1/2 coil ? This is driving me crazy so please help. Any feedback regarding the "B" spings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

I have the "B's" and like them. I think the advertised drop was 3/4" front, and 1" rear. This was not the case on my car. It dropped between 1.5 and 1.625 front and rear. I was prettyy shocked in fact, because I had not intended on doing C/C plates. As a result of the drop, I did do MM c/c plates. So, now my car has the same amount of wheel-well clearance differance between front and rear as it did stock, but with less tire to fender gap. Its a 98 body style so it gives the appearance of more "rake" or downward angle to the front anyway. If I was wanting to make the car look more level, I would not need to remove a full coil off the rears. Its just not an exact science when you do that. If I were going to do it, I would just buy a set of adjustable lower control arms and be done with it. That way you have plenty of adjustment. With much power, you need better LCA's anyway.

this is the whole reason I did not run the ford springs. If they don't drop as advertised there quality control is not there.

If you spring rate is x amount and all the cars wieght the same the drop should be static on all cars.

I went h&R becasue they completely leve the car front to back. 1.6F 1.5R or 1.75front 1.6rear depending on brand.

the ford price was nice but I don't understand how you get varing drop between cars if the springs are made correctly.

I hear what your saying. However all the info I have found indicates that Eibach was the vendor for Ford on their springs. These springs were originally made for the Fox cars also I believe, and those advertised drops may pertain to the Fox Body. I would be more inclined to blame a corporate marketing/advertising department that was not inclined to change old informational documentation about the drop of the springs in cars other than what they were originally intended. I don't know that for fact, just a hunch.

It's weird because last week I've intalled the FRPP "C" Spring and I got the advertised drop on my 02GT (1 1/8" in front and 3/4 in the back)...And I didn't experienced the "settling thing" everyone is talking about I had the spring installed drove the car for 5 minutes went back to the garage and the drop was "done"...

And by the ways, I doubt that the FRPP "C" Spring are made by Eibach because it's written MADE IN CANADA on the box.... (I still have the box)

I can't explain why so many get differant drops, but we seem to. I wouldn't be surprised if Eibach has contracted foreigners just like every other American company either. Maybe its just the box that is made in Canada :canada:

I would expect it will take a little more than 5 minutes for gravity and some road stress to give you your final drop. May not be another 1/2 inch, but just saying it would take more than 5 minutes.

If you look on fordracing.com they have the drops for both fox and 99-04 cars.

for exmple when I was looking people would say buy b or C springs they are cheaper. I would say I want more drop than that and people would chime in they got more than the 1 1/8 inch. now this is nice if I just wanted a lower spring but that tells me something is going on.

unless the people who install them are nto measuring accuratly.

people will claim over 1.5 drop with the springs sometimes. Right on the ford website it says resutls may vary and all that. I on the other hand new what I wanted. I did not want to "hope" the springs worked out over $50 in price or so.

My car height still haven't change!!! Maybe the rear a little bit but its only by maybe 1/8"....The front was dead on from the moment it get off of the lift....

The drop with B springs are: 7/8" front and 1/2" rear, this is on a Fox Body. With a 99-04 car they are: 1 1/8" front and 3/4" rear. The C springs have they exact same drop but offer and much stiffer front spring and will ride more harsh. The Ford F springs are: 1 1/2" front and 1 1/2" rear drop. All springs are made by Eibach and so are the Steeda springs made to their specs.

Having followed FRPP spring threads for awhile (I have a set of B-springs I need to get put on), I've notice something odd. They without fail seem to drop the 94-98s more than the 99-04s.

Strange, as I would assume the later models to be heavier....maybe I'm totally mistaken though.

that's an interesting find.... I never noticed that. I think the 99+ are a bit lighter due to the use of more lightweight body components

I just installed the FRPP handling kit last week, and though I am impressed with the increased handling performance, the drop was not exciting! The kit advertises a 1" drop front and rear, and it was close to spot on. The tragedy is that since the stock ride heigth(SP?) leaves enough room to put a beer on top of your tire, one inch is not really aggressive

oh great, so you didn't like the Eibachs either?
No sir. They sag in the rear and have horrible weight transfer for the track, leading to horrible 60' times. I've heard that the SuperSports still have a decent enough spring rate in the back to allow for better launches at the track

I'm happy with my B springs so far; the drop is perfect imo. I have about half an inch of clearance on all curbs and never have to worry about scraping my front end.

I do feel however that they are too stiff for the Mach 1 shocks/struts that I have.
