What a bunch of horse crap! I bought the intake last year to install it in the Cougar (along with a pair of AFR heads)... Well this spring I had the bright idea to install it right away.

I take it out of the box and under the lower intake it reads "MADE IN CHINA" WHAT THE F-ING F***!!?! I was so pissed off, I mean I have to put some bullcrap chinese thing on my MUSTANG!

Anyway I got over the fact that I got ripped off at Ford Racing, they could at least charge the same price as a Performance Product intake since it was probably made by the same 12 year old chinese kid (or old chinese lady)! Anyway so I start to install it, and when I'm ready to torque down the upper intake (torque set at only 20lbs) one of the long bolts BUSTS in the intake!!!! WTF! The bolt twisted and broke, the metal looks like there was a lot of oxygen, not a very good bolt at all. The funny part is that once I remove the upper to start checking what to do about the bolt that's broken in the threads... I play with it and woops it starts to un-screw (it was even with the intake, but I put my finger on it with some pressure and un-screwed). So I took it out by HAND! Don't ask how it broke in there?!

I'm going to put this intake in the Mustang as soon as it's nice outside. I'll have the lower ported though and grind off the "made in china" emboss just for the sake of doing it. But I need to find some freaking bolts first, not sure where I can find these long bolts? I could just get a thermacular spacer which I think comes with new bolts...

Same thing happened to me with the long bolts, go to the hardware store and get some grade 8 bolts, those wont snap on you.

I didn't think it was going to be a replica going into the Ford SVT dealership to buy it I should throw it through their front window and hope it lands on the Roush Racing Mustang they have on display in there

I think it's awesome that a guy from Canada is this pissed about it.

Really shows you the American legacy of the mustangs.

I work in the Aerospace industry and a great deal of what goes on commercial jetliners are made overseas.

The old days of nothing but junk coming from other countries are over.

For example...
Russia kills us with their Titanium processing abilities.
Japan can build a pretty decent car. (whether we like them or not, their quality is very good)

The US is no longer the only country that has manufacturing capabilities.

Your Cobra intake will hold up just as well as the original.
There is a good chance that the bolt you busted was fabricated here in the states.

Just my opinion.

I dunno, I've heard a lot of people complain about the chinese cobra intakes casting quality as well. Someone on the corral posted some pics a few months back and it looks aweful.

While they do make nice things overseas now. They also make a lot of cheap crap so that american companies like ford can make evan more profit on them.

Let me clear up some confusion here. I also purchased that exact same intake last year and also did not know about China and was a little angry. But when I got it it looked great. The casting was the same if not better than some of the stock crap that I have seen. I had it ported by Tmoss and dropped it on the motor 325 stroker with AFR 185's and am very happy with the power! ahhh , had to get new bolts too, I even ordered the one inch spacer and those bolts ended up being too short so I still had to go get more, PIA to find but I found them! It's a good intake so don't be worried but it, like half the crap here in the states, is made in China.

:OT:
Watch out for bearings made in China. I had a Chinese pilot bearing come apart after 90,000 miles and chewed up the input shaft on my Tremec 3550. Not fun, I made sure the replacement said MADE IN USA on it.

Yep i even had to retap some of the threads for the sensors in the lower manifold on my chinese cobra intake.

What a bunch of crap, i was pissed when i saw that as well, hell i just spent almost $350 on a FORD COBRA intake and come to find out it was a chinobra intake.

That is very discouraging to hear, I plan on putting my ported cobra intake on next weekend. You say we can find some bolts that match at a local store, Home Depot or something similar i imagine?

Ford sells the bolts for the Cobra intake - that's where I got mine for the Explorer intake.
