Hi
I was just wondering if any one has out the ford racing supercharger on their car, the 400 hp kit. Im thinking about putting it on a new bullitt. I have read that the kit makes 400hp and also read that it makes 415 hp. Can someone tell me which number is the real number. also what kind of rwhp are people getting. thank for your help.

It's 400 hp at the crank, that should be 340 at the wheels if you go by the 15% loss rule from drivetrain. This is a good kit, reliable easy to install, and safe for the motor while still making good power without a doubt some of the best kits on the market are the FRPP ones.

Josh - I installed the HO kit myself and am running it at 10.1 lbs (3.500 pulley). I'm making 415RWHP on a Mustang chassis dyno (said to be stingy but who knows). I went the HO route for the intercooler and the upgraded fuel delivery (dual in-tank fuel pumps). I would recommend going with the HO kit for that reason. You could order a larger pulley to dial back the boost a bit if you're worried about the stock internals or drive train. If you're mechanically inclined at all do the install yourself to save money. It's not difficult but it is time-consuming. There are lots of steps where a "professional" installer can take shortcuts to save time ($$). They might not cause problems at first but could over time. You have a vested interest in doing the install correctly rather than quickly. Just my 0.02.

By the way, the kit and instructions are first rate. Wouldn't hesitate to do another one in future.

I would like to get the HO kit but just dont have the money to afford it now. I think the kit im getting is upgradable, so i might do that later on. i think for now it should be a good amount of power. im sure it will be noticeable, i sure hope it is. im really looking forward to my supercharged bullitt.

You can purchase the HO upgrade kit later on for sure. The regular kit will ceratinly put a smile on your face! My grin muscles were sore for days.

Make sure to update us on your progress - btw, we love pictures around here.

I will keep everyone updated. thanks for your reply. my plan is to buy the car next monday and have them put the blower on. then i will go pick it up and be one happy mustang owner. I have one other question I have seen than you can buy other pulleys for it say an 8lb pulley, would i just need to get a new tune for this and be good to go? I think it will make between 5 and 6lbs of boost in stock form. so i thought 8 would be a nice upgrade at some point, it would be nothing to major, but should give me a little more power.

you should really consider the HO kit. it is cheaper than upgrading later. buying it seperately is costs more, plus you gotta install it again. will save money in the long run if you get the HO kit off the bat.

Whipple Industries builds the kits with FRPP. When ordered, the kit actually comes from Whipple. The only thing that comes from Ford Racing is the Procal tool and tune.

A quote off the Whipple site:

2005 – 2008 WHIPPLE FORD RACING 4.6L 24V MUSTANG SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM: 2008-2009 MODELS NOW SHIPPING

You might want to call Whipple direct as to the 2009 availability. I think the hardware for each new Mustang model year has to be certified for air standards etc which takes some time.

thanks for the help, my dealer told me they could do it but sometimes I wonder how much they really know about this type of stuff. I just want to get it done so i can see what its like to drive. Im going to have to talk to them about how to fit it under the strut tower brace, but i have been told it can be done.

If you can get a strut tower brace to fit let me know. I've been looking for a way all summer. I don't think it can be done with the stock hood. A brace would clear the supercharger but it won't clear the CAI tube. I left my hood blanket on and the blanket itself sits down tight on the tube - it actually compresses the blanket.

i dont think the tower brace will fit over the whipple. and idk if the the FRPP procal tool is ready for the 09's, you may have to send your ECU in to get reprogrammed, either that or a dyno/custom tune.

Don't know about the 400 HP. I've got the HO. Put 20K on it now. Fantastic. Had it Dyno'd last week 445 RWHP. So the advertised 500 at the engine sounds about right. I suspect the same is true for the 400.
