It is covering my ass! 2 years ago I sold a set of 4 tires, mounted and balanced. Offered a free alignment check and the customer declined and signed his paperwork. 9 months later he and his wife come in pissed off saying I sold him junk Michelins. They are pissed at us because the tires are worn and all. I look at them and look at his history and see he has put about 12k on the tires. I pull everything up and asked his wife to read aloud the tire install receipt. AFTER she verballs says customer declined a free alignment check, it was over as she looked at him with this pissed off look. I also mentioned that he never came back from his free rotations. My next question is how can I help you when I offered the chance to protect your tires and you declined, and now mad at me because you refused the service?
