Forged Internals Cost??

This is more of a curious questions. How much does it generally cost to get forged internals installed? Thanks

not sure, i'd say probably like $1,500 if i had to guess Don't quote me on that.

But i would recommend getting a forged stroker kit if you're going to be taking the bottom half apart anyway...something to think about. If you're installing new forged rods, pistons and rings ANYWAY...might as well stroke her too =)

Thanks for the reply. I'm not planning on forging my car now. I was just curious. (Side note) i heard that stoker kits aren't exactly the best for a daily driver???

Well yeah its not the best idea for a dlaiy driver. They raise the compression. But im just sayin, if you're takin the engine apart, might as well stroke it.

BORE and stroke it would be better, with forged internals But yeah if its ur daily, then just get the forged internals and if u want power down the road, just supercharged it and ur forged internals will take whatever u throw at it.

Not quite sure what your looking to do forged internals for. But you might want to check this out (also on SHMs website)

a stroker kit does not hurt daily driving and they won't raise the compression unless you want it to. unless you are going to get headwork or cams or a blower, don't bother with the stroker kit. you can't bore the 4.6L out much. and finally, SHM sucks ass.

I've seen some impressive kits for a forged/assembled bottom end for $3000.

Actually, you can stroke the 4.6, and set the compression to whatever you're planning. For example, if you look at a 4.6 assy, and stroke it, you add approx 1/2 to the ratio (8.0 = 8.5, etc). The benefit of course is the gain in lower rpm torque. The horsepower limit is all you're against. If you're building an engine that you want to last 4-5 years, you should not be pressing 700, and that's only with I beam rods. Most stokers can handle much higher, it's all a matter of how long you want it at that level. The torsional stress of the stroke is quite extreme around 600-700hp but tolerable, above that level limits the lifetime of the assy.

I bougth a forged short block for $2799.00, $300.00 for shipping, $300.00 for a clutch $230.00 in gaskets, bolts and fluid cooling mod $200.00 for cam springs so I can do cam change at a later date and 200 for a new tune, For a total of $4019.00

My Kit from Sean Hyland was $2300 including balancing. You can make whatever compression you want, It's all in the piston dish size. i had originally got 28cc .020 overbore pistons with their kit. The .020's won't fit according to my builder because the motor has been rebuilt once before. So now I am getting 23cc .030 overbores. The 28cc's brought compression down to 8.0/1, now the 23's will be 8.5/1 which is still very acceptable for a blown car. I really like Sean Hyland's stuff personally. They've been taken a beating on the boards lately but nobody can tell me a single first hand instance of a problem, it's all rumour and hearsay.

How much is your builder charging for assembly? How much is the machine work on the block. Is your builder doing the install. No one around her will touch a 4.6 .

Keep us informed on how that motor from MMR holds up. I am curious to see how it compares to other short blocks out there.
