Forged pistons

What years did Ford put forged pistons in the 5.0's? Also I have a part # here off of my pistons. E7ZE CA

I dont know what year they started, but I believe 93 they went with Hyper pistons.

87-mid 92 = Forged Pistions
mid 92-95 = hyperutetic

check your oil pan color.. what is it? thats a tell tell sign.

If you have your oil pan off, look at the bottom of your piston. It will say trw on it if they are forged.

Supposedly the black pans got the 'hyper' pistons, the gray pans got the 'forged' pistons.

Near the end of '92, the hyper pistons were starting to get introduced, which made it's way into some '92's.

Interesting find, I never knew you could indicate by the color of the oil pan!
