Found a 68 for sale need info.

I found a 68 ( I think) coupe for sale. $2500 or so. It has an apparent 289 with a four barrel and a four speed. The body is badly faded with some rust showing in the fenderwells.

It has potential.

Can anyone tell me what trans and rear gear it should have?

Don't need it, but its a neat old car that I'd like....

All you need to do is plug the numbers off of the car's data plate into a decoder and it will tell you what the car was built with, not necessarily what's there now.

The VIN will also tell you what year.....1st digit, i.e.: 8 = '68
First letter is the engine code, yada, yada, yada..........
