When I bought my car, the PO left a load of crap in the trunk. I just pulled the tank, so had to empty the contents of the trunk. In there is a camshaft, a little surface rust, but unused (the distributor drive is totally unmarked, as are the cam lobes).

How on Earth can I tell what it is, and should I keep it even if only for dealing with car jackers...?

Flat tappet cams are so cheap(here anyway) that its probably not worth keeping. In order to measure the exact specs on it, you probably need a degree wheel, dial indicator, and a mostly assembled engine. Are there any markings on it? A pair of calipers can at least tell you how much lift it has.

You car sounds nice, btw, especialy for being so quiet

Careful there with that bump stick, you wouldn't want to be the one responsible for the Queen, banning their sale and importation to your Island.

65 - car is very quiet now, the gas tank is stripped out and on the floor.

D.H - we ban everything fun over here...we won't able to procreate for much longer...
