I found an 85 SVO, silver, turbo, new clutch, exhaust, and a few other things on the list. With 93 GT seats and a nice dash/interior. The exterior paint is ok, but not great, the body is in good shape. I'm not sure about the miles on it but they want 3500$ for it but will take offers.

Is this a good price? I don't know much about the car itself. Can anyone enlighten me? Are they faster than the 5.0's of that time?

For what you describe that's not a bad price, it is fair. To bad it doesn't have the original seats, those are nicer/more valuable. Stock vs stock the svo was similar in acceleration to the '85 GT, but def handled better. To date, w/ a few minor mods the cars are still quicker than their stock V8 brethren foxbodies and later. Finally '05 models may change all that.

A K&N Filter and Gillis valve set at 17 PSI put my stock 84 SVO up to 171HP / 220TQ to the wheels. So 20 HP for $100 may not be free, but it's pretty good bang for the buck. The car would have run mid 14's with that HP to weight. I did quite a few mods to it after that but never got back to the dyno. Fun cars to drive and they will hang with new stock GT's right up to 2004 without too much out of pocket for the HP increase.

230 or so HP is a Turbo Coupe IC, fuel pump, K@N, Exhaust, 3" Down pipe and boost increase away for 85.5/86 cars. Add a PE/LA3 comp and 35# injectors along with the aforementioned mods to the 84 and early 85 for about the same HP. Torque goes crazy when you open up the intake and exhaust + up the boost on these cars - you may see over 300 TQ to the ground vs the stock 240ish BTQ.
