When i pulled off the trim that holds the shift boot, i noticed that there were 2 plugs going to it one was for the cig lighter, the second went to nothing. It was a large grey clip with 4-6 wires coming out. It would be on the left side. Any ideas as to what it goes to.

BTW its on a 2000 GT. no rear defroster or traction controll

no rear defroster? I didnt even know it was an option. My guess is the traction control but thats just a guess, you do have fog lights right? if not it might be for them.

My 2000 has the same clip just stuck onto that panel. Never figured out what it was either. I do have a defroster, fog lights and 'vert switch so it's none of those.
I assume it's a leftover piece for the 01 crossover of buttons to that spot.

It is for the traction control. It was an option in 99-00 and standard in 01.

It's got too many pins to just be for traction control...

it comes from your tranny. that is what you'd hook a speedcal up to if you changed the rear end gears.
