Spent the last few days searching here and using Google for this answer. I still remain uncertain of the answer so I am looking for someone whom has tried interchanging the exhaust (FOX platform) and can confirm the truth of the matter. Some say the exhaust is identical. Some say it isnt the same. My newest mustang is a 93 GT w/AOD and wondering if the exhaust system from the headers rearward are the same as on the stick cars. Thanks in advance.

If the exhaust is stock then its the same. The only difference is the hanger mount is different between the T5 and AOD, though it fits the same pipes. Some longtube headers and mid pipes are different for manual cars.

Early AOD's had different mufflers supposedly to quiet the car down. I beleive this was 87 or so. As a result they were rated at 220HP, but many people ignore this since who runs a stock exhaust on a 5.0 anymore??

No other differences. Different exhaust hanger on the trans Xmember but every midpipe will fit

I'm sure Ford still sells them, or something very similar.

As for the header differences, there are none (as for stock anyways) but the mid pipe is wider around the trany area. Once you go into aftermarket parts, shorties are again the same, but the mid pipes are different. Full lengths are different all together, as the automatic versions are wider than the stick versions. You can however use the automatic headers on a 5 speed car, just not the other way around.

I doubt it. If Ford still does sell it they probably want $800 for it

They would probably call it N.O.S. too to jack up the price.....

And for all you dumb people, N.O.S. means New Old Stock

I put an H pipe on my aod that my brother bought for his manual trans. It fit, but I still have to do some modifying to clear the trans crossmember since it's hitting. not sure if that's because it's 2 1/2" pipe or if the crossmember is different.

The cross member is situated differently...kinda hard to explain but the cross members are all the same (the double hump ones anyways) but they're "slid" up or back differently on the ends to meet up with where the trany bolts up to it. Look at the ends of a cross member and you can see the cylinders on the ends...those are just tack welded in place...you can grind through those welds and slide the CM where you need it, if for example you needed one for a T5 or Tremec but only had an AOD CM. That's a little off topic but maybe you can use that bit of info someday
