Fox Body Door Frame Fading

I have a 1988 mustang and one thing that has always bothered me was I have paint fading on the door window frame. I don't know the right route on to fix it. So is there a paint I can buy and do it myself or should I bring it to a body shop and have it done right?

That's not too bad. You can fix it yourself. This is what you need. SEM Trim Black # 39143 .It is an exact match to the original finish.

Lightly sand the warn areas with 600grit sandpaper. Apply 2-3 light coats and it'll look like new.

i would spray some primer on the frame first before you spray the paint

I used SEM Trim Paint on mine also.

I finally got around to paint the trim and I think it turned out great. It's not perfect but now you can't see it from far away. Thanks everyone for your responses.

It was lack of prep on my part. I didn't take enough time to tape it off. If you look closely you can see the fading in the crack. I'm sure if I did one more coat it would look perfect but I was impatient.

For me I thought my fading wasn't serious. I just taped it and sprayed it. Yes, sanding down and spraying primer would have been the best route but I hated looking at the fading and didn't want to spend much time on it. Since then I have seen no problems and it looks the same from the day I sprayed it.

I know what you mean, I just didn't have the time to tighten that last lug nut, now it's gone an I miss it terribly.
