I like the idea of the mustang front end.

There are just a few out there and you can make yours just the way you would want it.

Any ideas on color yet?

Nope, that is a whole vote to do it. Whatever you do it will be yours.
I will add another vote for starting with a good structural base to work with.

I vote no. That car looks great just the way it is. Lowered it will look even greater.
