I have a 70mm Accufab and a EGR delete spacer, its not going to fit under my hood. Its rubbing on the blanket. Anyone else have this problem? I could try a thinner spacer to pull it closer to the center of the hood but I don't think thats going to work. I'm just running a Performer intake w/o a spacer, that rubs next to the elbow, blanket is tight against the hood.

I just converted mine to the FOX setup and it is very tight as well. I'm using a Cobra intake with an E-brock TB and no blanket. I'm sure it would rub the blanket if there was one.

If you remove the blanket, won't that kill the paint on the hood?

There's so many Fox throttle body swaps on this website, I thought more people would have run into this.

i don't run a blanket and my paint is fine i don't have a stock hood anymore, but i also have tons of custom paint, that the heat doesn't hurt. so i say take the hood liner off and see how that goes.

You also have a cowl hood Troy, so that may protect your custom paint as well by getting more heat out and away from it.

I have the stock hood with no hood liner because it was rubbing my intake. I haven't had any problems with the paint. I believe that the blanket is only a saftey feature for if the engine catches on fire.

I have a Fox swap on my car but I have a Cobra R hood. My Intake hits my hood but I don't have any Throttle body clearance problems.

i thought the blanket was there to help keep the heat in and heat up the motor quicker in the winter when its cold?i could be wrong but i dont think its there for fires.and it shouldnt bother the paint at all, havent the older mucsle cars been running without one for about 40 years now?never bothered any of there paint that ive seen.and it dosent bother mine for that matter, and i am running the stocker.

I know on the old pontiacs and cavaliers that ran metal hoods had horrible paint peeling and fading from engine heat. I was told thats what the blanket was for, if you run a fiberglass hood you don't need the blanket since its more resistant to heat.

The stock hood is composite, maybe that's why nobody's had the problems that the metal hoods did.

Will that setup work with the regular Cobra R hood? If I sell the blower for a 347, I may go with a fox TB setup.

The blanket is just for sound deadening -- nothing else.

Many cars (SSP Mustangs) never came with them, along with other vehicles like trucks, etc.
