Hello everyone!

My name is Robin, 33 years old and I'm from Belgium. Lately I just fell for a Foxbody Notchback coupe from 1979. Unfortunately it hasn't a V8 but it has the 2.3 Lima 4 cilinder. To me it looks pretty decent, apart from the rust shown in the pictures. Other than that the clutch has to be replaced. The guy is selling it at €4200.

Do you guys think it's still a good deal?

Are there things to bear in mind?

All the best

Robin

That's a nice looking notch!

Those little rust areas you have will clean up pretty easy if you get on top of it soon. You may need to pull the windshield to get to that spot but it's not too bad particularly, if you have a windshield shop do the pulling and reinstall.

Thank you for those tips! That’s a relief!

Now wait a minute, I'm gonna throw a wrench in the works here, I an suspect of that spot on the windscreen post at the top, maybe some starting at the trim, appears to me to be an inside job, that does not make a deal breaker but warrants a deeper inspection.
Can you get it on a lift? Check the trunk, spare tire well, peek at the wheel well seem where it meets other panels.
Again, I'll say that's a spiffy little ride and prolly a keeper but know what your getting.
Commuter or just weekend stuff?

Thanks for your comment. That’s what I was afraid of… I am also thinking I’ll have to check it from the inside for that spot. Unfortunately I don’t have acces to a lift. The trunk seems to be healthy, but I still have to check the place you mentioned. I am not planning to use it as a daily driver, just hoping to enjoy it at the weekends.

Other than that, the fenders are what you can expect it, I guess.

Really appreciate your honest advice!

Nice interior on that thing. Good lord. That car is 13 years older than mine and my interior looks 100 times worse than that. Haha. Good snag. V8 swap in the near future?

Put a soft rag between the sheet metal and a magnet and run that all over the place on those rear quarters. It looks like they have body filler in them to me.

Check the shock tower area by the front subframes as well.

The additional pics show more evidence of hidden rust, I don't know the weather in Belgium or what £4200 is in Dollars, wait googlefu says........5600+- in American money, tuff decision but I would prolly grab it and daily drive till the wheels fell off.

The weather isn’t that great, just not as rainy as say in the UK. Our roads aren’t that smooth either, so cars here have to endure a lot… I think I’ll just grab my chance and hope for the best!

Love the interior of that coupe. It looks exactly like my first Mustang, an '81 coupe, except for the door panels.
