Hi all,

Just purchase a MGW short throw shifter. I plan on installing it soon, but figured I'd replace the shifter bushing while I'm at it. Has anyone bought a shifter bushing from Ford directly? If so do you have a part number? I've found part number (E3ZZ-7K453-A) at the local dealer. CJponyparts list this part as being a rubber construction while I thought OEM was plastic. Should I go ahead and pick this up or just buy the replacement from lmr?

It looks like CJ needs to update their product page. The stock T5 shifter bushing is plastic. There is also a bronze bushing available that some upgrade to.

Did you make that change by itself, and what difference did you notice?
I have to be honest..... I questioned the plastic bushing when I was young and less stupid 20+ years ago.

I didn’t notice any difference really with my MGW shifter. Overall the shift feel is great. Unsure how much the bushing plays a roll in that.

Does that bushing just come out the top with the shifter removed? I’m trying to remember if that plastic bushing is what I replaced in my Dad’s Ranger when I replaced the leaking shifter gasket years ago and made it shift better. If so, it looks like a good upgrade when I do the rest of the console area upgrades.

Yes. Just pull the shifter and you can remove the bushing easily
