I researched / downloaded / diagramed ....everything about switching an EFI car to carburation - (especially here) viewed how others did this as well......and was really worried about what to save.... what to label etc etc etc.....

I finally threw caution to the wind, said F it and just started tearing into it - to my surprise it went pretty easy - I just took my time - took certain pictures + labeled certain things etc - it was a lot of fun - revitalized me on this - of course now it's a 113 degrees outside everyday -

Started 6AM-

The Before - The dual spark 4 cyl is gone - actually sold it to a guy for $100 (had only 79k on it) - his kid blew up his 94 Ranger motor - he was so excited to find one... he came over to help us pull it when we did it - so I gave him the tranny - I'm going stick anyway-

I labeled some items just started at the front and kept moving back -

Next weekend - pulling the dash / A/C / steering wheel / column - then dropping the whole front suspension -

I just thought I would post this - I kept researching and researching and reading and I was so sick of seeing nothing done - so I just said screw it - I'll figure it out later - thought others may be in the same boat - I actually learned more taking it apart than any 'book'

You're gonna convert to carb,.....whatever for?

Oh Oh! I know! You want to be the bastion for ridicule?
No, No! You want to buck conventional wisdom where everybody here will tell how easy F/I is despite the fact that the 5.0 tech section is full of perplexed individuals who cant figure out why their F/I car's wont run right. Despite the fact that it's so easy.
No wait, You don't want to have to change out just a carburetor when engine demand is increased,....You want to change TB's, injectors, fuel pumps, and that goofy assed thingy with the wires in the middle that looks like a cheese slicer.

I'm trying really hard to figure out what you are referring to, but I'm just not getting it. Give me time, I'll get there

I use a knife to slice my cheese, so please elighten me as to what kind of cheese slicer you are referring to, as there are many styles to choose from...

I can't for the life of me figure out how any of those contraptions looks like something on an EFI engine.

MadMike - chill out brother - just relax - there's a distinct method to my madness - I'm going retro with the engine compartment - I'm a body and paint guy - want the engine to look like a 70's retro
all that computer switching isn't for me -

chgovfk, as you read more of MadMike's posts, you will pick up on his sarcasm. He himeself has a carbureted 2V engine, so his above post is nothing but a big ball of sarcastic schtick.

Dare to be different MadMike....... I think it will work - I'm keeping the original A/C Compressor from the 71' 351 windsor - hiding the wires -

Forgot the picture of what I have going - I have 650 cfm carb on order - .....don't 'lose' it Mike - but for right now - I plan on painting it a light mist green (an 09' Prius color or a 70's chevy chevelle color (frost green) the lime green from FoMoCo is too gold toned for me - straight stock black interior - with the white limited leather GT seats out of a summer edition LX

Thanks man. Appreciate it. I think your build is going to be awesome. I'm digging the retro engine. Looks like it's going a really clean setup. Looking forward to seeing the progress..hopefully you can progress on yours faster than I'm progressing on mine.

Yeah, you might wanna look at mine too then. It might help you to get a better perspective on my sarcasm. That picture to the left is a fox.

AND if you haven't bought a mig yet,..look at Eastwood. A 175 amp piece w/ a free spool gun for 299.00 is pretty good.

Thanks Mad Mike - I'll def look into that eastwood when I buy - I'm in the construction biz and I have a steel contractor (he built me that body cart (I bought the casters - drew it up) - he's gonna loan me a tig - 'cut' the infills for me - ( I'll make the cardboard templates) - your avatar - thats a 'FOX' mustang?? - Your the one out of your mind? --that is crazy - I'm gonna look at your posts - looks cool - ........keep the sarcasm coming - if that's the way you 'roll' - I'm from the S.W. of Chicago - can take pretty much anything - I got cautioned on here for 'getting' to vivid w/the mustang 10' and 11' guys about the rear end design ( I F-n hated w/Ford did ) ...I own an 07 Gt - check it out - put mutha thumpr cams in it / full exhaust / CAI (tuned it w/an actual comupter / kept the harness MM) - etc etc

Yeah, I hated what they did to the whole car, front and rear. The new engine is the saving grace w/ that body style as far as I'm concerned. Just when they started to really get it right,...some frustrated designer, tired of not getting his turn on the drawing board finally convinced the powers that be that the car needed to "move on", else be stuck in a retro-themed homage to the 3rd gen body style forever.

You'd think they learned that lesson in 1974.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks the '10+ body style looks worlds better than the '05-09' :stick2:

That's exactly what I thought? - got in trouble on here when I spouted off that it was probably some designer who's 1/2 of a Fag - trying to be different or like you said ....'get' his turn - I had high hopes for the 50th anniversary re-design - ...until the EVO's concept and new fusion came out - Mustang II coming along for sure - or some other catastrophe......which sucks..... my wife wanted a new Kona blue one (it would of been an auto) but I would of had that new 5.0 motor- but I made soooo much fun of the rear end - and complained about it so much - it was a no go - ......then she wanted my 07'? - but I'd have to make it quiet - cams out - no exhaust .....so I'm thinking I'll get the new 2015 - .....ended up with a new fusion instead for a new work car - of all the luck .....but it was dirt cheap -
