Ok, so I'm an idiot. In a strong cross wind, the boot cover blew off the back of my '01 convert. Wouldn't have happened on my '65 since it snaps on three sides and slips, with effort, in the front. Or I just use a 3/4 tonneau which also snaps on. On the '01, there are two snaps and a fairly loose front holder. Long story short, it was in fast moving traffic and it blew off and into the San Francisco Bay. So, it's gone. I liked how it looked but before I get a new one I thought I'd ask people here what their experiences are? Any tricks I missed in attaching this thing? Thanks in advance.

They suck pretty badly. The tonneau cover is the only way to go

I think the boot that you got with your car is different that the one that the pre-99's got. Mine "snaps" into place fairly well and doesn't let an updraft happen underneath it. I've had it on while driving pretty fast with some wind. It hasn't come off yet (knock on wood). But if you can afford it, the tonneau is the way to go. Cause it has straps that secure it.

Good idea

Maybe that 'glass tonneau is the way to go. I've read that they part so they can go into the trunk. Plus they look distinctive. Can they be had in color (my '01 is silver) or do the need to be painted? Thanks for the idea....

Im sure they all need to be painted unless you can find a used one somewhere

I hate the one I got with my '01. I'll sell it to you if you want!! How on earth do you get them to fit right? They look like crap?

They do take some messin with. Is yours the one with just two snaps on the sides, the plastic tongue in the front, and the rear that slips into that small space just between the top material and the rear trim? If so, I might be interested (what color is it?) I'd have to modify it though so it wouldn't fly away like the last one. Yeah, they do look a little weird, but better than just the retracted top in my opinion. Thanks.

I'm liking the tonneau cover idea personally. They look damn good.
