My '88 hatchback over heated the other day while on the freeway. I was able to get off the freeway and to a gas station where I was able to add water to the radiator. The water came out the bottom of the engine as fast as I poured it in the top. I'm hoping it's just a freeze plug that blew out.
When I jacked the car up a few minutes ago water dribbled off a metal plate between the engine and bell housing. I still have no idea where the leak is at though. None of the hose appear to be the source.
Can someone tell me where the freeze plugs are located?

Ok, I thought I'd add a little water to the radiator and see if I could track down the source of the leak. Once I broke the seal on the cap water started dripping on its own. Because of where my jack stand was I couldn't get a clear view, but it appeared as if it was coming from the front of the bell housing (which doesn't seem to make sense to me).
There is a gap between the back of the oil pan and the front plate of the transmission. The water was clearly running down the front plate of the transmission.
