Every part is brand new. The mass air conversion is new but shouldn't my idle change if the MAF sensor is unplugged. And is it possible to extract codes if you dont have a check engine light due to aftermarket gauges. I pulled the vaccum line and plugged it and left the rest exposed like the directions say in stangnet for converting sd to mass air. When it says to buy a harness do you actually have to, or can you make your own like I did with some bulk wire.NYC LSC said:Yes the idle should change when you unplug it.
Yes it's possible to get codes without a check engine light present - you can do it with a test light or analog volt meter. I don't have the link here at work, but I'm sure someone here has it.
Did you make sure to pull the vacuum line off of the MAP sensor and plug it?

Thanks for all the help. I will continue on with the testing as soon as my pushrods come in. I have been dealing with a considerable valve train noise that I have been trying to figure out for about a year now. Its kicked my assjrichker said:I have personally run an A9P (auto trans computer) in a 5 speed car. It worked fine, no problems. Many of the guys here who have converted from AOD to 5 speed have done the same thing with no problems.
It goes along with a carb operation. During start mode, if the ECU senses WOT then it will think the engine is flooded so it cuts the injectors and allows all the incomeing air from the throttle plate being held all the way open to enter the engine, start easier, and get rid of all the standing fuel in the engine so that it will run again.Juiced88Coupe said:I may be wrong but I have never heard that will "shut off" the injectors.

Pretty cool concept if you ask me. That's why they say don't use the gas pedal to start an EFI car because it will think you are trying to clear a flood condition which will in turn make it harder to start because there is no excess fuel in the engine under normal starting conditions.
