Freshmen killed my car.....

I lent out my car to a couple people freshman and sophomores this weekend, and tonight while letting a freshman test drive it to see if he could handle it, he was doing really ****ty, and the clutch let out.

The guy was trying to do a 1-2 shift, but he coudlnt' get it into 2nd. Tried adjusting the cable, but it was really loose. I actually felt the pedal....and its like its not even connected. I'm pretty sure that ****ty driving eventually took its toll on the clutch and something finally gave.

To top it all off, one of them ****ed up the ignition. it turns on now even without the key, but it won't turn all the way back. It just barely turns back to where power shuts off. I think one of them forced the car to start with the door key rather than the ignition key.

Anybody got any ideas on what could have happened? Any which way i'm really ****ing pissed off and I'm not lending out my car ANY MORE!!!

the only people i let drive my car, is people i know, and that know how to handle it. That sucks to hear. and your ignition problem was plobaly just coincedence alot of Fords have that problem

iv owned my car for three years and never lent it out.if someone f'ed my car up id have to kick some ass!today you'v learned an important lesson.sorry about your car.

since freshmen and sophomores aren't allowed to own cars, I figured I'd be the nice guy instead of the ******* and let people borrow it. I guess that cant' be the case with my kind of car. The free tank of gas I got from them, though, was nice.

on a side note, you have a seperate key for the doors and the ignition?

Nope. My door key starts my car. But then again I can take the key out while its running.

I dont see how an older car than you an gueros, has one key where your newer ones have 2. Im flabergasted.

You have a seperat key for the door locks, and another one for the ignition right?

Make the guy that you lent the car pay for the damages. He is the one responsible for the well being of your car while it was lent to him.

And why would you let a freshman/sophmore (14/15 year old kid) drive your car?

Someone probably replaced the ignition lock cylinder and never rekeyed the new lock (to fit your old key) so you have two keys.

The last time I had a new lock rekeyed, it was under 20 bucks at the local locksmith. It's worth it to have one key.

People just dont respect things that arent theirs. I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

I never lend my car out to anyone period.
The only person I trust driving my car is my dad and
he is a old school muscle car guy that knows how to drive
a manual transmission very well.
I am sorry to hear your car is messed up that sucks.
You should have never lended out your car in the first place.
If I was you I would worried if those kids didn't copy your master key and
could steal your mustang.

freshman/sophomore in College. I'm not gonna make them pay for it, they only make $100/200 a month here at the academy and aren't allowed to ahve outside jobs. I'm hoping its just the clutch cable or something simple like that.

I have seperate keys too. The ignition was replaced. The replacement keys are flat and straight until the very end where they get bumpy. The original key opens the doors and starts the car, the replacement (flat one) just starts the car.

I know its retarded but its what I've got

My car has seperate keys for the doors and ignition also, I just cut a small square piece of masking tape and put it on the door key so I can tell them apart.
