So my friend with a 98 z28 (2.73 a4) just said he wasted me back when we ran on the highway one night (highway was clear.) Unless my eyes are FUBAR, I seen him fall a half car until I missed 5th, and the 2nd run over a car until I missed 5th. With a weight disadvantage. So last night he was talkin to some of our mutual friends when I wasn't there and got to talkin how bad he slaughtered me. Yes he pulled 3 cars on me INSTANTLY, after I missed a gear. So it's deff on now. What do you guys think I should do? The cars tore apart right now getting the afr's and a FTI cam, so she'll be ready for round 2. I'm thinking et streets on the 10 holes for 100 bucks from a dig. Probably at the track this time around. He's gettin stall and gears, but it's still a ways off unless he gets his allowance raised (LOL.) Should I let this blow over, or put him down? I've had about enough how fast that damn ls1 is, only to watch it click a pitiful 13.6 off, even though he brags it ran a 13.3. The previous owner ran that with a o/r midpipe and shorty headers, on top of his cat-back and lid.

Get the head and cam installed and waste him. The ls1 though once he starts with a cam and full bolt ons and gears though, hes more then likely gonna wax you so enjoy it while you can and get on the heads and cam soon.

That reminds me, I'm supposed to race a cam'ed, full exhaust T/A in a few weeks when we get the time. Should be a good one from what I hear. It should be faster than me, but that isn't always how it works out

The cam, heads you got will help get you there. I have taken any stock ls1 out and trap about 3-4 mph faster at the track than they do. Must have some sucky ls1 drivers...

learn to shift or buy a shifter...every 2nd word in that was "till I missed a gear" But for real I have drove a few LT1 Camaro's and they are not bad at all for stock.....but that is comparing stock vs stock

Exactly, if he does basicly the same mods you are doing he will end up having atleast 100 rwhp on you. LS1's are no joke.

As long as he's not doing any motor work or power adders you should take him. I donno if you meant that you had a weight disadvantage, but the ls1 is probably at least 400lbs heavier than your car.

send him my way we'll fo from a 2nd roll to 5th, ill show him what a stock explorer engine with a cam will do to em. An ls1 can be very nasty, think if a fox came with a 351, then puttin hci on it, and you have a very fast car.

Yes I missed 5th gear, it locked out on me. It was like the synchro wouldn't accept the gear change. I usually hit my gears pretty good, I'll miss one every now and then, but I tried each time to get it in gear twice and it would not go. The head cam should rip him apart like he sits, and the stall and gears is gonna make it close.

5800 in 4th was about all I wanted to turn it. With the gears I got now the speedo said 120 and thats 5% fast.

EDIT: The reason I went into 5th was because I wanted him to nail his speed limiter at 120 trying to run me down, so all I had to do was get it into 5th and hold him off for a few more mph.

Doesn't sound like a lot of mods.

He would have a much better chance against the auto, but a 6spd car wouldn't be pretty. The worst thing you can do is roll race an ls1.
