I bought some prothane urethane front control arm bushings. They have a metal sleeve on there already. How do you get the old metal sleeve out of the control arm?
Are you asking how to get the old bushings out of the control arms, Because I believe that the bushing is actually two in one and you pry it out of each side. The way it bolts to the car keeps it together and the metal sleeve goes thru the middle of the two bushings, thats how my rear control arms were I believe.
you can take the arms to a shop and have them press out the old ones and press the new ones in....or you can get a torch and torch the bushings till the rubber melts and then beat them out with a hammer .... then press the new ones in.....
Take a 1/4" drill bit and put right beside the metal sleeve...Turn it on !slow! and it'll want to rotate around the sleeve, but it'll dig in...Your chewing the rubber away from the sleeve...Same around the outside...I seem too remember using a sawsall and cutting the bushing down to the control arm too from the center...Just try and not nick the inside of the arm, but you can smooth it out if you do...
