I have a bran new seal that's already installed in a new metal casing. I also have a new timing cover but they don't seem to agree with each other. I've sanded the paint off the seal casing, sanded the timing cover surface, tryed oiling and lubing, doesn't seem to want to go in square. I've been setting it on the work bench and using a block of wood and a hammer. Is there any better method. Has anybody else had this problem? Thanks guys.

I did it the way you described. Whered you get the cover? There are 2 types of covers that use 2 different seals. Hopefully you got the right one. I bent my seal the first time I tried to put it in, the second one went in nice and easy. Maby try another new seal, see how that one goes in.

I never thought about the vise. My dad got the cover from jegs for my christmas. I also noticed it doesn't have provisions for the dowel pins on the front of my block. Where can I get another seal? I have another seal but it isn't in a metal casing, and I'm not goina use my other cause it's filthy and can't seem to get it out. If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all.

Any autoparts store will have a new seal. I know what you mean about bad luck, thats all I ever have!
