Hey all!

I had the TSB for the front suspension popping installed about 2 months ago. Now, its back. I checked and they have the sleeves installed on the bottom of the springs. I'm not too sure what the redesigned upper front strut bearings should look like but it didnt pop after I got it back from the dealership....so I'm guessing they installed them.

I read another post that stated that the springs should be positioned with the ends 180 degrees out against stops on the mounts to prevent them from turning (which is causing the noise). Does anyone know of any more info on this?

I've got the Eibach suspension kit installed and am wondering if this has anything to do with it... When I took it in initially, the dealer told me they shouldnt be servicing it for the TSB because I have the aftermarket springs installed. But they did anyway ....acting like they did me this huge favor.... I'm pretty certain if I take it back, they wont cover it under warranty.

Is anyone with the suspension kits experiencing the same thing?

I had the TSB done on the front end and also have Eibach springs the noise has not come back. But I read some where that the metal piece that holds the End link on to the strut broke at the weld and the end link was moving you might want to check that.

Had the TSB done on mine and it popped before I even left the dealership. The tech swore he performed the TSB and figured the part they used was wrong or faulty. Anyway, he did it over and it's been fine since. So just because they did it once doesn't mean it's fixed. Have them do it over again.

I have the stock springs btw.

Just took it back in and they confirmed that the upper strut bearings went out again. They replaced them under warranty. They were hesitant at first.....

They proceeded to ask me for approval of the 95$ inspection fee until I reminded them that they just installed the part that went bad.

Tsb

Sorry to ask...but what is the TSB? I am about to get the Eibach springs put in mine, with no other suspension mods. Do I need to additionally get other mods as well?

Weird, popping went away when I put the eibachs on. No TSB performed. Hopefully it won't rear its ugly head again.

TSB ='s Technical Service Bulletin.

I'm wondering if I destroyed them by hitting a few hard bumps during road construction...

Well, here we are again less than 3 months later and the popping is back. I cant believe this. I made a good effort to avoid potholes and such to rule that out. Its driving me nuts. Is it possible to eat upper front strut bearings like this? Is there something that they could have screwed up on the install? I performed a search and read 1 post that stated that Eibach has discontinued the "pro" kit and someone else claimed it was because they were all (or at least a good majority) popping and squeeking. Can anyone confirm this?

It always seems to come from the passenger side. I'm going to check the springs tomorrow to ensure they're seated against the stops. If all else fails, I might toss the Eibachs and throw in some Steedas. I considered going back to stock....but it just wouldnt look the same.....

Any ideas?

Is it the low speed turning that causes the popping? When do you notice it?

Yes, the slow speed turning is when its noticed the most. But its as the wheel is being turned and you can feel it in the wheel. Almost as if the spring is catching, then popping loose, over and over...It might pop 6 or 7 times each way.

Well from what you describe, if it has to do with low speed turning and not bumps, it is still the TSB problem. I have the Eibach ProKit and don't have this problem. It also doesn't sound like any problems I've heard from people with the Eibachs. My best guess is you are somehow not getting the new TSB upper strut bearings. Those (including myself) who are experiencing your described problem don't experience it right away, but only after a period of time. Your problem is consistent with them putting a new 'old upper strut bearing' and then after a period of time the part fails again and the problem returns. If it were your suspenion mods the issue should be present regardless of if they replace the bearing or not. In case you don't have it, here is the info on the TSB (below). The only reason I would put the stock springs back on is if you had to do it to appease your dealer and you were certain they were using the updated part. I'm certain your problem would have returned regardless of the spring. I don't know of any other problem that would be fixed for a short period of time after the bearing replacement and then return as it did. If you haven't done so already I would print out this TSB and make sure the tech working on your vehicle is referencing it. Either that or go to a different dealer. Good luck!

Thanks for the PDF.

The dealer receipt did say "upper front strut TSB". Now whether or not they actually installed the correct part is beyond me. My car was manufactured on 11/05. Which according to the TSB would not have the spring isolator. This isolator is installed which tells me theres a good possibility that they installed the new version. I might try a different dealer if they give me crap as this will be the 3rd time. To be honest, I cant blame them if they dont cover it....after all the eibachs are directly touching the part that keeps going bad.
