Recently bought a 2000 mustang(V-6) but everytime I go to put gas in the tank, the fuel nozzle handle keeps clicking(as if the tank is full). I have to let the fuel trickle into the tank and even then the fuel nozzle wants to "click" off. It takes 5-10 min. to put $20 worth of gas in. I've tried other gas stations thinking maybe it's the pump but they all do the same thing.
This is very frustrating with the weather is freezing out.
Any ideas at all as to why this happens?

It is the design of the pump nozzle. A Google search turned up this gem: HowStuffWorks "How does a gas pump know when my tank is full?"

I've had that problem with my 92 GT as well at a lot of pumps around town. Seems around here some are more tolerant than others, or my car is more tolerant of other pumps. But, the two posts above are also what I have to do. Just barely hang it in there.

I was also told it could be a blocked evap line at the fuel tank or a bad charcoal canister. You guys might want to check that out as well.
