I talked with Ed Curtis this weekend at the NMRA race in Ohio. He's a great guy, gave me and all my brothers free T-shirts. Anyways I told him this story and I forgot that I hadn't mentioned it on this forum. Since there are alot of people asking about cams I thought I would post this.

The local speed shop in town was helping a guy install his new H/C/I on a 92 Mustang. He had Edelbrock RPM heads, RPM intake and a B-303 camshaft. On top of that he had almsot identical bolt-ons as me, except he had a MSD 6AL ignition system (my mods are in sig). The shop also charged him $300 for a professional dyno tune, he made 312rwhp and 327rwtq.

Both of us had our first time at the dragstrip a few weekends ago. The conditions were horrible, humid and 20-30mph head winds. We both weighed our cars at the strip, he was 71 pounds lighter then me. And even though he was running slicks I still beat him 13.24 vs. 13.42 (1.94 vs 1.84 60 foots) and I was trapping 1-2mph faster then him.

I'm not sure what the flow differences are between TW heads and RPM heads, but other then the intake and cam, there wasn't too much different between our cars.

I think you already posted this story when you came back from byron and posted your results. Good times. Always fun to beat a lighter car with more hp. I have not yet gone to byron where there wasn't a 20-30mph headwind. Owell.

T-shirts huh??? I'm going to have to have a talk with Ed about this... I never got a shirt!!! Was it an FTI shirt?

Ed is a VERY cool guy. You really get to see who he is when meeting him in person, he's one hell of a guy! I hope to see him at Maple Grove if he's there.

Keep in mind there was a 20-30mph head wind that day. Ed C told me thats .2-.3 tenths and 1-3mph. Also 2 different people drove his car.

Killercanary, I talked with Ed about your car. When he gave me the shirt he laughed and told me to tell you I had one. Its a great shirt, FTI logo and the famous sig quote "talk is cheap, take it to the track and prove your point"

Not to piss on the campfire here, but the two cars had different heads, cam & intake and they ran different? Well, I'll be........
You realize how little the B-cam is right? I would hope the FTI cammed car would run better.

Bottom line is your car is faster, congrats!

Bottom line is neither car ran anyway near what their capable of and it was the drivers first time going down the 1320. I'd like to see both dyno graphs.

If you're cutting 1.8-1.9 60's, you're doing ok. Dynos are only good if you compare 2 cars on the same dyno.

Yep.. even has the company Moto on the back... TALK IS CHEAP...!!! I got a couple.. hehehe Have to catch him at Maple Grove if he makes it up there...

:OT:

Perky, do you do the stangnet meets at Mason anymore? there was talk here recently of a 94-95 get together and mason was discussed as an option and I know you did these in the past.

I hope to see Ed at the Grove, but I know he has a lot on his plate right now and may not be able to make it.
