I feel like this is a dumb question, but I'm curious and will ask anyway. As I get further along, I am looking into getting a fuel cell. Now, is there certain regulations for these that im unaware of? I plan on only running my car in test and tune nights so no serious racing. But this leads me to my main question...
I see many different styles and setups. I am wondering why no one uses their spare tire compartment as a fuel cell? Is it possible, if not, why? I was going to cut it out and put in an aftermarket cell, but why when I can just weld a top on that area, weld on a small dip in the back for the lines to connect, put a fuel cap on top in the trunk and it should be good right? I figured it would save space and look good too.
My guess is it's because it doesn't detach? Or for safety reason of some sort i.e. a crash? I'm all ears if you have answers.
