Fuel cells...who has 'em?

I've been thinkin of one for my big body...I could use a new tank...and for the same price I've saw some fuel cells in summit. I'm thinkin of goin that route but problem is I want one that will mount up in the floor like stock on a pre71 car so I dont loose alot of space. Somethin similar to the one they put on that Cuda on Horsepower TV but price is an option for it. Any thoughts, pics, etc?

Good luck...you can get a fuel safe for $1k or just get a plastic one and a plate. I was looking to do the same thing you were talking about but I ended up just throwing the fuel cell on a flat plate of steel. With the trunk floor already recessed about 4", the fuel cell only stakes up 5" more space that it did. If you want to get fancy, you can build a recessed floor mount that will hang the cell down a few inches like the stock tank.

The other option (saw someone around that did it) is to cut the old tank in 1/2 (horizontally) and use the lower half as your recess. It bolts into the stock location, its made to hold enough gas, so weight shouldnt be a problem.

Well I want some form of dropdown. The stock cut in half thing wouldnt work as good on a 71-73 since they have a full floor. I figured ditch my tank, cut out the hole for the cell and then fab up some mounting thing to drop it down close to the floor. I just havent had much time to do any measuring just yet.

Well I'm thinkin the plastic cells in Summit b/c I'm not gonna be putting over 300 in my fuel system.

The Aeroquipe fuel lines and fittings alone will cost you over 300 easily....

I am running a fuel cell in my 65'....
I think I have like 1500+ in my fuel system....

500.00 Magnaflow Pro Star fuel pump
400.00 Custom made Triangle Engineering fuel cell
100.00 Magnaflow regulator
Roughly 600.00 maybe more cant remember, in Aeroquip line and fittings....

I was crapping my pants when I was putting the fuel system together.... Those lines are a fortune....
